About

Nestled on what we consider the most beautiful, wooded corner in the heart of historic Plaza Midwood, The Rosebud has it all. Walk 2 blocks to the end of our street where you'll find the best local eateries & shops Midwood has to offer yet bask in the tranquility of the expansive front porch and covered back deck while you watch the sun set and dine. Live like a local in our 3 well appointed bedrooms, newly renovated kitchen/bathrooms + vintage affinity decor with hat tips to our favorite show.

Good to know

There's just nothing like sitting on the front porch of a historic Plaza Midwood bungalow on this street- especially on this corner. MTV rented the space in January of 2022 to film one of their upcoming shows- lodge like a rockstar! From the moment you walk in this former local artist's home, you'll feel the character, history, love and best wishes, warmest regards. Well appointed, welcoming three bedroom, 2 bath home. Upstairs is a full suite and the two bedrooms downstairs are adjacent to a full, newly renovated bathroom. The kitchen is recently renovated and fully equipped - breakfast bar/island and bulletin board of favorite S.C. quotes to boot. You'll find queen beds in all the rooms each room named after Alexis, David, Johnny & Moira, with extra blankets and lots of cotton sheets and charging cables for all your devices. Several desks/work tables in the home to work or study while on the road. Here in our space you'll find mid century modern furniture and lighting, vintage decor art on the walls and lots of love in the details. And, new in 2025, we've added a fire pit to the cozy backyard! Relax in the living room and watch the big flatscreen tv in the built in shelving- better yet read one of the many well loved books lining the shelves. Play a vintage record on the record player and dance under the MCM chandelier. Tons of closet space in each bedroom, a walk in closet in the upstairs suite and an ironing board and iron can be found in the downstairs closet next to the bathroom. Both full bathrooms are equipped with ample storage and counter space as well as towel bars and hooks. Have dinner and drinks out on the huge covered back deck- such a delicious spot for morning coffee or an evening meal. Should you need to do some laundry we have a new washer and dryer in the closet off the kitchen. The small cottage in matching red paint behind the backyard fence is also available for rent was the main house for this artists' cottage. If you have a large group considering taking both places over. It is a separate listing with a separate entrance and parking on the adjacent corner street (different address). Look up the Rosebud Retreat cottage on Airbnb for booking information. The next door neighbors' homes are closer in proximity to this main house than the cottage just for reference - it is a completely separate dwelling. We have a fence dividing the back yard garden so you can feel the privacy of having your own separate entrance, parking and yard. You'll find little hidden odes to our favorite show, throughout the space (which will hopefully continue snowballing over time) - even the bedroom names pay tribute.

Other Details to Note

It is an urban neighborhood and not the suburbs. The homes are close and although fenced in, you'll hear folks talk as they walk or bike by, dogs barking in neighboring yards or walking by, etc. With the help of interior designer and co-owner, we've laid out the space in a way that maximizes your comfort and creates a relaxing vibe. The second floor suite was originally an artist studio and the stairway has open shelving next to it for an open air feel - there is a railing and these are old and sturdy stairs and we've provided lots of lighting. Lots of cables for charging all the devices are provided on each night stand. We are seasoned Airbnb hosts so you'll find us accommodating and we are excited about adding both the Rosebud Bungalow and Rosebud Cottage, aka Stevie's Cottage (the little red house you see behind the back fence) retreats to our housing options in Plaza Midwood! Just search our adjacent property under ROSEBUD RETREAT COTTAGE (plaza midwood, sleeps 2-4) if you have friends and family visiting town and all want to be close together.

Neighborhood

Hands down, Plaza-Midwood is the most fantastic, creative, eclectic and vibrant neighborhood in the Queen City. When Mick Jagger was recently in town- where did he choose to hang out before The Rolling Stones show? that's right, Plaza Midwood- at the Thirsty Beaver. We recommend you doing the same if that's your thing (and note the Beav's commitment to preserving history in a time where anything with character is bulldozed for "progress". While just a stone's throw from uptown, here you'll find all things local love- amazing eateries, homegrown shops and miles of tree lined streets with historic bungalows and buildings (a rare sight in a city that is constantly bulldozing history and character). From the best breakfast wrap in town at Common Market just a few blocks walk down from the Rosebud to drinks on the rooftop patio at Kiki Lounge, to fried pickles atThe Diamond to handcrafted goods at Moxie Mercantile, you'll love exploring on foot or bike (you can lock your bikes up on the porch if you bring them) while you're here. Need to stock the fridge? You're just a few blocks from the local Harris Teeter grocery store and on the weekends the farmers market takes over the patio at Common Market on Commonwealth! Take a yoga class at Okra Yoga, grab a latte at The Giddy Goat (best coffee patio ever) and just stroll! Have little ones? Take them to nearby Veteran's Park or Midwood Park to play on the playground and sprayground. Like a beverage and bowling? Check out The Pinhouse, less than a mile away for the coolest duckpin setting you've seen! We're also close to the new Gold Line Street Car where you can hop aboard to wander through Uptown Charlotte. Go to a game, catch a concert, grab cocktails at the Fahrenheit rooftop bar, take the kids to Discovery Place Museum, visit one of our many amazing museums uptown, hike the greenway or rent a scooter or bike to see the beauty of Romare Bearden park and neighboring hoods like Elizabeth, Noda, Wesley heights, Villa Heights, Belmont neighborhood and so much more. We'll do our best to leave you a recommendation of where to go/eat/shop!

The four of us were very comfortable in Scott and Terrence’s place and didn’t use the third bedroom, which was also very pleasant. Great buds everything we needed and I appreciated the themed decor. It was comfy and homey, but very clean and charmingly decorated with everything we needed

Great neighborhood, charming house! Great location, nice area to take walks, and there are a few good markets and such close enough to walk to as well. We loved the front porch and back deck for outdoor living!

There is a private driveway next to the house as well as brick paver parking spots in front of the house just for you. You should have no issue parking there and although we recommend walking or biking (there are lots of rental scooters and bikes around town) if you are able, if you drive, you shouldn't encounter too much of an issue with parking around our hood.
